Our New York City Adventure – Day 1

As you may remember, this trip to NYC was planned in celebration of my 40th birthday (which incidently is today).  While we planned the main details together, my husband added some special touches including a limo ride to and from the city which enabled us to just sit back and enjoy the ride.  For those of you who are familiar with the city traffic, you know what a blessing this was.

We stayed at the Essex House which overlooks Central Park.

We spent much of Monday walking around Rockefeller Centre – viewing the tree,

watching the ice skaters,

and enjoying the spectacle which is NY.

As we were getting ready to head to dinner on Monday night, we heard a knock at the door.  We were shocked to find that room service had brought us a cake and champagne to celebrate my birthday.  When we checked in, they asked us the reason for our visit.  My honesty was rewarded with sweets – ah, life is good!!! 

Next we had dinner at Becco, a wonderful Italian restaurant owned by Lidia, a woman whose cooking show my husband watches on PBS.  The food was beyond fabulous.  Definitely the best food we had on our trip. 

We finished off our night with a stop at the M&Ms store.  We basically went in out of curiousity.  What could M&Ms possibly sell that took up 3 floors???  Well we found out – M&Ms and practically every form of M&Ms toys, clothing and knick-knacks you can think of!!!  These are images from the video billboard outside the store.
