More so than most years, I am giving a lot of thought to my resolutions for this coming year. The “lose weight” resolution that has so obviously failed just doesn’t seem to cut it. I am feeling the need to take a more thoughtful and prayerful look at what needs to change in my life. While I’m sure diet and exercise will be covered in my resolutions, I want to be more practical this year and break them down into the steps (what will help me to get from here to there).
1_ Rise early in order to have time for prayer before the children get up (I have done this sporadically this year but I want it to be a habit).
2_ Say at least ten decades of the Rosary per day (up from 5)
3_ Exercise at least 20 minutes per day, even if it means walking around my living room or dancing with my children
4_ Consistent meal planning – My life is so much more peaceful when I know what is for dinner before it’s dinnertime. LOL. My family will rejoice when I conquer this one!!!
5_ Fast one day per week – I have been reading about the spiritual benefits of fasting at this link and feel called to give it a try. The Apostle Paul talks about how once you have learned to endure suffering in the body that you are dead to sin. Well for me, fasting will be suffering!!! LOL And being “dead to sin” sounds awfully good to me!!!
My “wife and mother” resolutions will follow in the next day or two — more prayer needed!!!

I love your list. We have lots in common. I have been doing the first and second one on your list for about a year now. You will really feel refreshed. It’s a great way to begin your day. God bless you : )
