Narration and the Computer

My two middle children have been enjoying our new avenue for narration – the computer.  I know that this is nothing new to Real Learning readers but it is new to us.  After reading a book, story, etc. my children enjoy narrating (telling back) the story to me as I type it into MS Word.  Lily (6) is so proud of the product and asks me to read it over and over again to her before she illustrates it.  Lenny(11) likes the fact that I am not making him physically write his own narration every time.  This enthusiasm for narrating is welcome and I enjoy seeing the physical representation of my labors (ie all the hours I spend reading to my children).  So thank you Elizabeth Foss for your inspiration!!!!

For additional ideas on creative ways to narrate check out Katherine’s post…

  • Our children love to dictate narrations as I type too. Then they love to illustrate them. It’s such a wonderful way to see what they are retaining. Elizabeth’s book is full of wonderful ideas.

And thanks for referencing my post. :)

  • We are so into narrations right now, too! It so wonderful to hear what they remember and to also see their illustrations.
