Recently as a change of pace, I asked my 14 year old daughter, Hope, to make up a quiz/Jeopardy-style gameshow about Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes. This book is historical fiction about the Revolutionary War period. We had just completed this book as a family read-aloud and I wanted to assign something different than the usual “Write me a summary of the book” assignment. She very enthusiastically complied. I am attaching a copy of her rules and the quiz itself. The game board was a Jeopardy style grid on a regular piece of paper. Each contestant had a different color crayon and when he/she answered the question correctly, he/she colored in the square for the appropriate question. Actually we let my six year old daughter do the coloring so that she felt more part of things. We took turns answering questions regardless of who got the previous question right. And Hope kept score and acted as our game show host. It was great fun and I hope you enjoy this a much as we did!!!
