Lily’s New Skirt

Well I dusted off my sewing machine which has seen little more than mending lately. And boy, did I have fun with this cute skirt that I made for Lily. I read about it on Michele Quigley’s sewing forum called “On Pins & Needles”. The tutorial on Grand Revival made it quite easy although I had to adjust the measurements for my daughter as she is a size 7 and not a size 5-6. Also I added a few inches to make the skirt a bit longer for modesty. I made it out of some fun fabric I had around that I had used for a lap quilt for Lily a couple of Christmases ago. It’s not our usual fabric selection but I think it is a cute skirt nonetheless.

  • Totally adorable! I think you should make those fabrics your style, it suits her!

  • not your style? but its so CUTE! i think its very “7 year old”. adorable.

  • What a terrific skirt! It makes me wish I could figure out the problem I have been having with the tension in my machine. I have not used it in over a year!

  • This skirt is sooo cute. I am going to try one after I finish up my Halloween sewing. I have to agree with the comment you made on my blog…sewing, and crafting also, are very relaxing for me. I also find that it is very nice to look at the finished product and realize that my time was put to good use. I think so many things we do as mothers and homemakers are things that are not tangible. When we see the results of out handiwork, we can touch it and say, “I made this. I created this.” It is very good for the mind. :-)

  • Very Cute! Very flouncy! Someday I might have a chance to make this one, for my flouncy skirt 4 year old! I’m saving this link to it; thanks!

  • Adorable!! The skirt and your daughter, she is so sweet, what a smile! What a wonderful job and I like the length, it’s a better length for winter…
