As some of you know, I delivered my daughter, Mary, stillborn over 5 years ago. It is an experience that I would never wish for anyone, friend or foe. However, on this day of great decision, as I await the results of the Presidential election, I am vividly reminded of Mary’s lifeless body sitting in the incubator as the nurses and doctor attended to me after the delivery. I wish that everyone who thinks that the economy (or any other issue) is more important than the issue of life, could have just a glimpse into my memory. I feel so strongly that if they would allow themselves to personalize an issue that they have de-personalized, they would not possibly be able to vote for a man who would deny medical attention to an infant, who had the “audacity” to be born alive after an abortion procedure. I feel that just a glimpse of my pain and suffering and of her sweet little lifeless body would change the hearts of those who view the unborn as fetuses rather than as babies. Of course, I know that this is just a dream in the mind of someone who desperately wants the world to turn to Jesus. But they haven’t taken away my right to dream — at least not yet…

I had a stillborn son six years ago this month – I totally get what you are saying! That experience has made me more firmly pro-life than ever! Tthanks for sharing your experience.
You express beautifully what we mothers who have lost children feel. Three years ago I walked into the bedroom and found my foster daughter . My heart broke as surely as if I had given birth to her. Fifteen years ago I gave birth to my own sweet daughter who lived for only two days. You are right in saying that no other issue is as important as that of life for without life nothing else matters. God bless you.
Heather, I saw on IHM that you were back. Thank you so much for sharing Mary with us! May all the souls of the Holy Innnocents intercede for our nation.
