About Us

My name is Heather and I have been the help meet to my wonderful husband, Len, for 22 years. Our children are Hope (19), Lenny (15), Lily (11), Wren (Born to heaven, 10/02), Mary (Born to heaven, 9/03), Lucy (Born to heaven, Early '04), and Peter (6). Six doggies round out our happy brood.

If They Could Have Walked in My Shoes…

As some of you know, I delivered my daughter, Mary, stillborn over 5 years ago.  It is an experience that I would never wish for anyone, friend or foe.  However, on this day of great decision, as I await the results of the Presidential election, I am vividly reminded of Mary’s lifeless body sitting in [...]

And Yet Another Reason I Love Being Catholic…

This morning we had the privilege of worshiping at St. Mary’s in Middlebury, VT.  And what makes participating in the mass at a parish other than our own so special?  It’s the continuity.    I love that going to one Novus Ordum mass is much like going to another.  And while we usually attend the Extraordinary [...]

Some Semblance of a Schedule

OK, I admit it.  The last couple of months have been a wonderfully crazy blur, full of many blessed events (hence the reason that I have been blogging so infrequently and also the reason that I encouraged you to add me to your Blogreader —Bloglines is my personal favorite).  While wonderful, these last few [...]

A Lenten Break

Happy Lent!!! I said that to my husband on Wednesday and he said it was an oxymoron.  I don’t know about that.  I think that there is happiness in turning more fully to God.  One of the things I love about being Catholic (I converted 10 years ago this Easter) is that the Church takes [...]

My Five Most Important Priorities

In my continuing journey through How Did I Get So Busy?: The 28-day Plan to Free Your Time, Reclaim Your Schedule, and Reconnect with What Matters Most , I was asked to write down my 5 most important priorities.  These priorities are meant to guide me as I evaluate my activities as well as the items [...]

Taming My Tech Habits

I am continuing my journey through How Did I Get So Busy? by Valorie Burton.  She says that “if you are going to overcome busyness and embrace a self-care lifestyle, you must gain control of your technology habits now.”  Well this is definitely an area in which I struggle.

So reluctantly, I have put most of my yahoo [...]

“That’s Harsh!!!”

Today I had a laugh at the supermarket and it wasn’t over the ridiculous price of milk or eggs.  I was picking up the loss leader sale items (about a dozen) at a local store.   As the nice young man (yes, I know that makes me sound so old to call an eighteen year old boy, a “nice young man”) scanned [...]

How Did I Get So Busy?

How Did I Get So Busy?  That’s the name of a book that I stumbled on at the library the other day.  The subtitle is “The 28-Day Plan to Free Your Time, Reclaim Your Schedule, and Reconnect with What Matters Most.”  (The funny thing is that it’s a 14 day book because it’s new – [...]

Our Christmas Letter 2007

While vacationing in Vermont, I finally got the chance to write our annual Christmas letter. Here it is:

Dec. 31, 2007
Vermont

Dear Friends and Family:
Well Advent has come and gone, and we are enjoying the season of Christmas while we vacation in beautiful Vermont. It is my hope that our “Christmas” letter will be in [...]
